This is a description of the SPIREAD.SPI environment, which was
created by TeleSensory to enhance the speech characteristics of
Screen Power when using the SPIREAD utility. Each of the commands
in the SPIREAD command list (as displayed when pressing the F1 key)
will be discussed here:

The Enter key:

The Enter key uses macro 41.
Macro 41 continues to the next page and speaks the text from
the cursor to the bottom of the screen.

The Escape or F10 key:

There are no hotkeys for these functions because they work
     fine without any assistance.

The Home, up arrow, down arrow and T keys:

The Home, up arrow, down arrow and T keys use macro 50.
Macro 50 will execute the appropriate command and say the
current line; i.e., Home and T will go to the top of the file
and say the first line. Up and down arrows will go to the
next or previous line and say that line.

The End key:

The End key uses macro 90.
Macro 90 will speak the text from the cursor to the bottom of
the screen. You will hear the "End of file" message. From
here you may press the page down (or D) key to hear the text
     on the last screen.

The B, W, 7 and 8 keys:

     The B, W, 7 and 8 keys use macro 40:
Macro 40 checks to see if the SPIREAD utility is actually
running (by checking line 25 for the word "Command"), if it is
it will execute the SPIREAD function for that key, otherwise
it will simply say the character. For example, if you are at
the DOS prompt and you press the W key, it will say the letter
W rather than try to read from the cursor to the bottom of the
screen, but if you are in the SPIREAD utility and you press
the letter W (to wrap long strings of text around so you can
read them), you will hear the complete text from the cursor to
     the bottom of the screen.

The Page Up, Page Down, U and D keys:

The Page Up, Page Down, U and D keys use macro 93.
This macro performs the same function in SPIREAD as it does in
any other application; it simply executes the key function
then reads the active window (which in this case is the entire
     screen).

The P key:

There is no special Screen Power function for the print
     operation.

The Left and Right Arrow keys:

The left and right arrow keys use macro 92.
Macro 92 performs the same function in SPIREAD as it does in
any other application; it simply executes the key function
the speaks the current character. For example if you press
the right arrow in SPIREAD the display will shift 20
characters to the left, and the character under the cursor
     will be spoken.

The forward slash, A and F3 keys:

The forward slash, A and F3 keys use macro 52.
Macro 52 says "Find text" then performs the correct search
function. For example, if you press the / key, Screen Power
will say "Find Text". At that time you should enter the text
you wish to find in the document you are reading. When the
text is found it will read from the cursor to the bottom of
the screen. If you then press the A or F3 key (to search for
the same text again) Screen Power will say "Find Text" and
then speak the line of text where the found word is displayed.

Note that the "find text again" functions will only speak the
current line of text, but the / (find text) will read the
     whole screen.

The F1 key:

The F1 key uses macro 51.
Macro 51 says "Help" and reads from the top left corner of the
screen up to the cursor (which is at the bottom of the
     screen).

<End of File>.
